Here is Haley hauling all her gear back from our day out on the road to Hana. The second day in Maui we were without a car so decided to hang around and see how far we could get on the free shuttles offered at every port. There were always shuttles to Hilo Hatties, Walmart and Kmart. Many people mocked the shuttles to Walmart and Kmart, but we had always found on previous trips that we could find many reasonable souvenirs and things we generally couldn't find at home in these stores. Usually we come this way in the winter when there aren't swimsuits, "slippers" and sunscreen on our shelves at home. You can always count on these stores to be stocked up. Also we have come home with great island fabrics in past years to make our own specialty sundresses. This time was no exception, but what we were really after was Diet Pepsi. Thankfully, the shuttle to Kmart was right next to Costco where we stocked up and are still drinking the ones we bought there...
Later that day, Haley and I attended a hula class and then Frank joined us for a kukui nut lei class. Haley also bought an additional couple of sets and made a beautiful black nut and shell lei.
The kids have really enjoyed going to the fancier dining rooms in the evening and ordering whatever they want off the menu with out any looking our way for the OKAY nod or asking if what they want is too much. Nolan can't get over that actually! Night one and two we ate at the Liberty Main Dining Room.
