Wednesday night we took the red eye into Philadelphia. It was a long flight and none of us got much sleep. When we arrived at our hotel - which was very nice by the way... we stayed at the airport Renaissance on points from Marriott., we were unable to check into a room early. We knew this would probably be the case, but it doesn't hurt to try. We booked a tour of Philadelphia through the concierge and the tour company came all the way out to our airport hotel and picked us up. I was really glad I hadn't booked online prior to coming or this nice little perk would not have happened. We would have had to take a shuttle back to the airport and take the R1 into the heart of the city. This would have cost us an additional $14.00 per person round trip. When we "checked in" they gave us the key to the concierge lounge and we went up and had a nice breakfast and then fell asleep on each other on the nice soft couch in front of the tv until our shuttle arrived for our tour.
A funny sign we saw on our tour of the city.
Don't we loook tired and awful!! No sleep, no showers, no make up. Haley took all these great pictures.

Tired as we were, we had a wonderful day full of great history. I particularly enjoyed visiting the Betsy Ross house. We also toured the mint, Independence Hall and visited the Liberty Bell. Christ Church was a highlight for Haley. She really enjoyed sitting right on the pew where Betsy Ross had sat for services. We later found out that some of Frank's ancestors had been married in the original church there in Philadelphia. Here is Haley outside the Betsy Ross house after our tour there.

Haley and I at our long days end.

What a delightful day we had! The shuttle delivered us back to the hotel just in time for a nice meatball dinner in the concierge lounge. Haley and I went down and used the jacuzzi and pool. Although the facilities were beautiful the jacuzzi was so hot we almost couldn't get in at all and the pool was too cold. We gave up and went to bed.
