Frank got up at 9:00 and headed down to find out about the tickets to Swan Lake. I took Haley down to the pool and she met three friends from Ireland, transplants from New Jersey. A girl about Haley’s age, her twin brother and younger brother. They played great in the pool for a couple of hours. Frank came home about 11:00, the guy had never shown up with the tickets, we found his card and called him and he said he had been there and agreed to meet us with tickets at the cafĂ©. Frank and I went down again and got the tickets and a little McDonalds for lunch/breakfast.
We then headed out to Schonbrunn palace. We walked through the Easter market which was nice, but nothing at all the size of the Christmas markets. We had some yummy - WARM goulash soup and potatoes done in rosemary with a cream cheese sauce. And Haley picked out a delicious little pink cake to share with all. It was the best take away treat we have had. We went in and toured the private residence portion of the castle. Where Marie Antoinette was born and Franz Joseph and Sissi had lived. It was beautiful. I was hot and tired and dragging most of the day so we headed back to the hotel for another little rest and changing time. So here is where the club level got really handy!! We didn’t have to go find something to eat, we just headed over with our fancier duds on and ate all the hor d’ vors and goodies and headed the short jaunt to the theatre.
Last night, we were very privileged to go to the Vienna State Opera house and see Swan Lake. Although I previously blogged about this, here are some of the pictures.
At the ballet, we had two seats in one box and one in another, so Frank and I got to take turns. They weren't the best seats for viewing, but extra fun and beautiful. Haley's box was just above the stage. It is the furthest one to the right of the picture and the second one up, the tall one. Great for viewing the curtain calls and espcially the conducter. If we stood and leaned in - which was allowed in these seats, you could see most of the performance. What fun!!
