I have been meaning to upload and share this beautiful photo for some time! This was taken on my birthday, by me while I laid on the couch and was waited on hand and foot. Frank took me to the office after Nolan's award ceremony on the 24th and preseted me with these lovely tulips. Then we all went out for a wonderful chinese dinner at the Paper Moon. When I got home my present and cake and tulips were waiting. I think this picture would make a nice greeting card!

The kids had gotten me a wonderful bundt cake pan and Frank presented me with a salad spinner. I asked for one! Since we started receiving the weekly box of vegies it is invaluable in the cleaning process.

Haley finished up her last day of school yesterday, and boy was she glad. We celebrated with a trip to the mall today. She has saved all spring and has over $100.00 in allowance saved up. And little spend thrift that she is (yeah) she only spent 10.00 today. Good girl!

Nolan starts work tomorrow at Raley's with his training. He is anxious to begin after a long week of hard labor at home with Mom!

Frank is still traveling. He just left Chicago for Savannah. I'm just a little jealous of this particular stop - since he will be eating at the famed, Lady and Sons restaurant - Paula Deene. He promised to pick me up a little something at her gift shop. That should help (a little).

hugs to all - Heather

Weekend Treasure

Here are some stock photos of the love seat, chair and ottoman we purchased on Saturday at the auction.  These pictures don't really do the set justice.  But we have determined that the retail price for these now discontinued pieces was $1899.  We topped out our auction at $500.00, so after sales tax and the 15% auction fee, we did pretty well.. paying approximately 1/3 of retail. As an added bonus, they were sold to us as "durahide" which means fake.  Frank and I used to say that Nogahide should have been named NOTaHide.  But after looking them up, they are 60% leather.. the parts that don't matter -the back, are not.  BONUS!  They are now all safely home and put away... where you say?  Where could you possibly have put all these lovely pieces of furniture? Oh, I forgot to mention that they are for the cabin.  The hope is that mice will be thoroughly repelled by the very idea of gnawing on cowhide.  And besides that, they ...

A Super Bowl Love Story

In late August 1996, I attended a bridal shower tea for my sister in law to be, Melanie Hull.  Her Aunt Shirley had created a beautiful party out on the back lawn, flowers and china and everyone in girly dresses. But most lovely of all was Melanie. I fell in love with her dress. It was my dream dress. Floral print. Georgette. Flowy. Bell/Cape Sleeve. Tea Length. Perfect Tea dress. I “pinned” it in my mind. That’s what we had to do back then. I knew that if I ever married – and hopefully that dashing Frank – that was the dress I wanted for my bridesmaids.  Furthermore… I had always hoped that if I could, I would provide the dresses for my bridesmaids. I had been in a couple of weddings and the expense was always difficult. It seemed like kind of a boobie prize to me. Hey, my dearest friends in the world, please be in my wedding so I can shove you over the precipice and into debt. Oh and make sure you check out my bridal registry! In January 1997, I was pretty h...

13 years old!!

Haley enjoying a DVD of her new makeup and her birthday jammies and her new Kirsten doll. Oh where does the time go?  13 years old today! The birthday fun really began last night.  We went to Marie Calendars, just she and I and had the burger meal deal - comes with pie.  Then she discovered that she could have a free piece of pie for her birthday so they gave her another piece to take home.  Then we went to Color me Mine to work on a ceramic piece for Daddy for Christmas.  There we discovered that she didn't have to pay the studio fee on her birthday.  Another surprise.  We spent the whole evening until closing there painting and having a nice time.  Frank got home about 10:15 and Haley opened the first of her presents.  A new pair of yummy warm jammies.  Frank and I had the fun of purchasing these together.  He discovered them first at TJ Maxx and thought they looked like his lit...
