The rat and the grocery stocking reminded me of a story....
Periodically, my folks would stock groceries for the long haul. Particularly beef. They would go in with a friend on a side or a quarter of beef and freeze it and we would have our supply for about a year. One time, they purchased a side of beef and it was butchered, but not wrapped. So, the duty fell to Dad, my mom and I to wrap the meat. One of my "coast friends", Todd Robinson came over to "help" with the wrapping. Todd also brought along a little trick that he had been saving up to play on Mom.
Todd had in his possession a wind up mouse. It was very authentic looking and was a great trick to play on my mom, since she HATED mice and we had, had a mouse or two at the house in Half Moon Bay. But what Todd didn't anticipate was that Marilyn Anderson was a bigger jokster than he was! Todd chose to spring the mouse on her at the very moment she was wrapping the liver. The liver was thawed and quite disgusting, so much so in fact that we never ate it and it could have been thrown out directly! But in any case, her hands were covered in gue! Todd sprung the mouse and it definately had the desired affect. Mom was screaming and jumping and the minute she found out that it was a joke, Todd as screaming, jumping and running away from Marilyn with the liver hands. She was trying to get them around his neck.
Several months later as Todd graduated from highschool and was looking forward to moving into his parent's downstairs apartment space, mom bought him a lovely set of glass canistars. But, inside the canistars was all the liver we had never eaten.

And how is Mr. Todd?
Thanks for posting your menu. Some of those are on my menu, and some look like they'd make good additions...it's always nice to try new things.
