The traffic worked in our favor, we picked up the Murphy's at LAX almost as soon as they picked up their luggage - we thought they would have to wait about an hour for us. We easily made our way to the pier. We thought they wouldn't let us board until later but we "sailed" right on board. We parked, gave our luggage to the porters, walked right up to the terminal check in and were on board in less than 10 minutes - amazing!
After a long leisurely lunch catching up with our friends, we headed down to the Empress deck to see about our rooms. Again, Cathi's experience was invaluable and we booked 2 next door rooms at the front of the ship, end of the hall. The rooms were the biggest on the floor and they were also quiet! No noisy booze cruisers wandering by your room all night. The only noise we heard was in the morning during docking time - the anchoring process was a bit noisy - but it was time to get up anyway!
The main shopping in Ensenada the next day was an easy two block walk. The weather vacillated between warm and a bit overcast - coastal fog. Very pleasant! We spent the morning shopping and the afternoon resting and playing games.
Cathi and I learned how to make folded towel animals at an afternoon, on deck class, and went down and impressed the guys with our expertise! We ate and rested and played games and ate and watched shows and played games and ate our way through a wonderful weekend. There was never a time that we couldn't find a quiet - if not exclusive spot if we wanted it. There was never a time that we couldn't' find something to eat if we had gone about five minutes hungry!
We had a great restful time and can't wait to do it again with our kids (hopefully in about 18 months with the Murphy's!)
