This is another one of Haley's pictures for the Fair. This is of course, our dog Socks. Doesn't he have kind eyes! ;-) It has been a busy week and how nice that there was time in the middle for a little relaxing on the fourth! We had our long lost friends, the Kauffmans, up for a BBQ and swim. We met the Kauffmans here - and they became very dear to us and then they moved to, of all places, Fresno! At least we have lots of reasons to visit them. Pam and I had a nice long day to get caught up. In the evening the kids lit fireworks in the front yard while we "enjoyed" the bounty of illegal fireworks. I mean these are the giant disneyland type. Every year, on the fourth, Frank and I thank the Lord that he led us to a house with a tile roof!

Haley managed to get herself one royal sunburn on that day as well. She was unable to go to ballet or swim or really be out in the hot sun for the rest of the week. She is feeling better, as of last night and I think she is going to have a beautiful tan! Yesterday, she was able to go to her piano lesson with Esther. Esther knows just what sort of encouragement she needs and Haley is loving her too! It is so much fun to have the favorite teacher of my childhood - not to mention my mentor teaching my daughter.

Nolan is working hard - almost a 40 hour week last week. But he is enjoying the challenge and trying to suck it up about the 103 degree days we have been having. In and out in that kind of heat makes one think long and hard about finishing college - huh?

Frank is on the move again. This week he is headed to Tennessee for a couple of days. The neat thing is we had him add a day to go and hunt up some old graves for me. Frank's GGGG grandmother, her children and her second husband were instrumental in establishing several Brethren churches in the area of Washington County. Their house is even on the National Historic Register. So, I am expecting great pictures and a full report when he returns.

Have a great weekend.
